Micro Air Vehicle Ground Control Station / Operator Control Unit

OpenPilot

OpenPilot is a next-generation Open Source UAV (unpiloted aerial vehicle) autopilot. It is a highly capable platform for multi-rotor craft, helicopters, as well as fixed wing aircraft. It has been designed from the ground up by a community of passionate developers from around the globe, with its core design principals being quality, safety, and ease of use.  Simplicity does not come with any compromises either: with no hard-coded settings, a complete flight plan scripting language and other powerful features, OpenPilot is an extremely capable UAV autopilot platform.

MissionPlanner

The Mission Planner, created by Michael Oborne, does a lot more than its name. Here are some of the features:

Note: You can also do mission planning with the HappyKillmore GCS, which also has point-and-click waypoint entry and full scripting. It's really a matter of personal preference which you decide to use. The HK GCS instructions can be found here. The rest of this tutorial will focus on the APM Mission Planner.
